Prototypes are preliminary versions or models of a product or system that are created to test and validate various design aspects before final production. They can take different forms depending on the purpose and stage of development. Here are a few types of prototypes commonly used in various industries:
Mockup Prototype: Mockups are static, high-fidelity representations of the final product. They provide a realistic visual and sometimes interactive experience, allowing stakeholders to assess the aesthetics, branding, and general layout.
Functional Prototype: These prototypes simulate the core functionality of the product. They may not have the final aesthetics but aim to demonstrate the key features and interactions accurately. Functional prototypes are often used for user testing, technical feasibility assessment, and proof of concept.
Proof-of-Concept (POC) Prototype: POC prototypes are built to validate the feasibility of a new technology, idea, or design concept. They focus on demonstrating a particular aspect or capability without the need for a fully functional product. POC prototypes help to identify potential challenges and evaluate the viability of an innovation.
